Big project at TTI: Klinkhammer supplies control system and WMS

Nuremberg / Maisach-Gernlinden, 14 April 2026 – TTI Inc., a global distributor of passive, discrete and electromechanical components as well as connectors, is significantly expanding its European headquarters in Maisach-Gernlinden near Munich. The US company, with around 8,800 employees and 160 branches worldwide, is investing in an additional 29,700 m² of logistics space, thereby doubling its warehouse and logistics capacity.

Klinkhammer Intralogistics has been contracted to carry out the system-wide integration of the new intralogistics system. The system integrator is responsible for standardising warehouse management software, material flow control and plant control across all existing and new systems to create a high-performance integrated system. The decisive factors in awarding the contract were Klinkhammer’s many years of project experience at the site and its expertise in integrating a wide variety of warehouse and automation systems from different manufacturers into a centrally controlled intralogistics platform. TTI is committed to long-term growth and aims to achieve this through fully automated processes and highly efficient systems. The aim is also to use state-of-the-art automation technology to further increase the efficiency of material flows throughout the entire distribution process and to achieve even greater reliability and speed in deliveries to customers across Europe. Completion of the extension is scheduled for the end of 2026, with the new warehouse systems due to be fully operational in spring 2028.

Klinkhammer had already integrated the existing systems in terms of software and control technology during the earlier construction phases. In the current phase of the project, the new storage systems are once again being equipped with control technology, as well as the KlinkWARE material flow computer and warehouse management system and seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure via a software retrofit. The aim is to achieve a continuous flow of goods between the existing facility and the new centrepiece of the system.

The range of systems includes an automatic, 7-aisle pallet warehouse with around 10,000 storage locations, a 2-aisle oversize shelf warehouse with around 9,000 shelves for large-volume cartons, and a 3-aisle shuttle warehouse with around 12,000 storage locations. The storage technology is complemented by several kilometres of conveyor systems for pallet, carton and container handling. Around 50 pick-by-light picking stations and 24 packing stations are integrated into the material flow of this major project. One of the world’s largest AutoStore systems on a platform structure – upon completion – will also be connected. Both the filling of the AutoStore containers at goods-in and the retrieval of goods from them are coordinated by the Klinkhammer control system. Conveyor technology is also used to link the new and existing AutoStore systems.

Automated palletisers and depalletisers are used in the carton handling process. Carton volume reducers, carton sealers, pallet and carton labellers, and strapping machines increase the level of automation in the dispatch process. Printing and pouch machines for handling delivery documents, as well as wedge machines for securing sensitive electronic products, are also integrated into the material flow and conveyor systems. The KlinkVISION visualisation ensures transparency and system performance. It enables detailed system monitoring, rapid alarm diagnostics and comprehensive performance analysis of the entire system.

TTI Inc. deliberately relies on a variety of storage systems to meet the specific requirements of around 100,000 items that must be constantly available, with a wide range of packaging options. The smooth interaction of all systems is crucial here. Klinkhammer networks the expansions in the warehouse, picking and dispatch areas via its KlinCONTROL and KlinkWARE systems. The company is supporting the project from planning through to implementation and is responsible for the cabling and control cabinet construction, the programming of the PLCs, the interface connections to conveyor systems and machinery, as well as the implementation of the material flow control and the warehouse management system. This ensures that the entire system, from the existing plant to the new systems, is centrally controlled and monitored.

As the party responsible for control and software integration, Klinkhammer also provides system-wide support during ongoing operations. The Service 24 package includes a hotline, remote maintenance, on-call support and spare parts supply. The central hotline acts as the point of contact for connected systems and, where necessary, coordinated with other equipment manufacturers.

With this extension, TTI Inc. is strengthening its role as a high-performance distribution platform for the European electronics industry, relying on a scalable, highly automated intralogistics architecture and laying the foundations for further growth.
