This is a great recognition in the Danish automation industry. BESTSELLER is an international fashion company with more than 20,000 employees worldwide, making it one of the largest European fashion companies. Klinkhammer has integrated an automated storage system with 79 Exotec warehouse robots and five stationary robots for depalletizing, carton opening and palletizing, into the overall system for the fashion company BESTSELLER. In the logistics centre, which supplies retailers throughout Northern Europe, the Exotec storage system more than doubles productivity compared to a manual set-up. At BESTSELLER, warehouse automation with robot technology significantly increases efficiency, improves the working environment for warehouse staff and minimises errors and storage space. The special thing about the solution is both the short time span of nine months for the realisation and the built-up capacity. In an area of over 30,000 m2, the warehouse automation takes up only 6,000 m2 with a storage capacity of 51,000 trays.
“BESTSELLER won because it is a large-scale automation solution, where they focused on the entire logistics operation – from when the item arrives until the item is delivered to the customer. The company managed to retain and involve their employees throughout the automation process. Other companies can learn from BESTSELLER’s implementation,” said the judging panel.
"We are proud to be part of the BESTSELLER success story as an intralogistics system integrator," explains Tom Preller, Sales Manager at Klinkhammer Intralogistics GmbH. With Exotec warehouse robots and automated carton and pallet handling, BESTSELLER is setting an example in terms of speed, availability and flexibility. It's a great example of good teamwork between BESTSELLER, Exotec, Danrobotics and Klinkhammer."
The DIRA Automation Award is presented each year to a Danish end-user with a unique automation project that is innovative and inspiring. The aim of the award is to raise awareness of new technological possibilities and to encourage the robotics and automation industry to develop new, innovative products. On this occasion, system integrator Klinkhammer Intralogistics and supplier Danrobotics were also honoured and awarded the prize. The selection was made by an independent jury consisting of experts, professors, journalists and a representative of last year's award winner.
